Hello good to see you again,

Hello for this week and next week we are reading and researching Christchurch building after the earthquake. we have been given a task to create a facility that you would think help Christchurch for the next upcoming earthquake. we had to read a minimum of 2 books to research and put your ideas on a doc it was a bit boring but it will help me when I am creating my facility, these are my notes.

Book 1

  • When the earthquakes hit there were not many places where could people could be together

  • People wanted lots of green places for the whole family and a cafe with ramps so people people with wheelchairs could enter

  • People wanted a dome so it would be secure

  • It was made out of reused materials

  • The dome would be powered by solar panels for reusable power

  • It needed to be warm and cozy

  • Use low energy light bulbs

  • Eco Friendly

Book 2

  • New zealand has a lot of native animals and plants

  • 100 million ther ther 2 super contains

  • New zealand is always changing

From one Pa to another

From one Pa to another

This week for math we learnt coordinates. we had to create a map with three different Locations, one going the most direct way from a pa in kaiapoi to Ōnawe Peninsula then the going only though the land and finally going across the water and our mission was You are the warriors chosen by your Rangatira to lead a rescue mission. You are safe at home at Kaiapoi Pa but have heard news of your kinsmen in distress. Ōnawe Pa is under attack and you must get there as soon as possible to rescue those who are under threat and help fight against Te Rauparaha’s advancing war party. You have been given the following brief.

  1. You must measure distance between the two locations

  2. What is the most direct route from one place to the other

  3. What is the most direct route by water

  4. What is the most direct route by land

This way takes 57.2 KM and we are heading southeast

This way takes 116 KM and we are heading southeast

Rounding and compensating

This week for math we did rounding and compensating, rounding and compensating is when you add a number to another number to make it easier to add but then you have to compensate the number that you just added and minus it of the other number.
